MakeNet partners offers a wide variety of tools, spaces, and services for creators at Princeton.


3D Printing & Scanning

Keller Center Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The Keller Center offers a variety of 3D printers, including Makerbot models (Replicator+, Replicator Z-18, Method), a Flashforge Creator Pro, and a Creality 3D Print Mill. Keller also has a NextEngine 3D scanner.

PUL Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The PUL Makerspace has three MakerBot 3D printers (Replicator+, Replicator Z-18, and Method) and three 3D scanners (Einscan-SP, Einstar, and Sense Scanner).

StudioLab

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

StudioLab has four Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro and three 3Doodler Create+ pens. StudioLab offers a Print-by-Mail service for students.

To use the 3D printers at StudioLab, Keller Center Makerspace, and PUL Makerspace, training is required. Training consists of online Canvas modules and an in-person training at any of the spaces. Once you’ve completed training, you can print at any of the locations. To complete the Canvas modules, you may use MakeNet’s self-enroll link here.


Performance

ODUS Ultraviolet Studio

Access: Open to undergraduate students only.

The ODUS Arts Program operates the Ultraviolet Studio, a fully featured recording studio for music performance and recording located in the basement of Bloomberg Hall.

StudioLab

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

StudioLab features a space for performance capture with a theatrical lighting grid, surround sound system, sprung dance floor, and a Vicon Vantage motion capture system.


A/V Gear

PUL Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The library makerspace has cameras, lapel mics, tripods, and more available for 3-day checkout. Patrons may also reserve the Video Production Room, a partially soundproofed room equipped with a ringlight, tripod, and greenscreen.

Digital Learning Lab (DLL)

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The DLL features an audio room for audio recording, mixing and editing. The room is equipped with a Mac Pro, FocusRite Scarlett 2i2 audio preamp, and two Shure SM7B dynamic microphones. The room also features adjustable lighting for video recordings and calls. There is also a 49-key M-Audio midi keyboard available. The Digital Learning Lab offers technologies for capturing media from some obsolete and physical storage media in our Conversion Studio.

ODUS Video Production Studio

Access: Open to undergraduate students only.

The Video Production Studio at 48 University Place offers a wide variety of audio and video production equipment for checkout, including cameras, microphones, and SD cards.

StudioLab

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

StudioLab has cameras and projectors available for checkout, including 360 cameras, Intel RealSense Depth Cameras, portable projectors, and a live streaming station.


CNC: Cutting/Milling/Engraving

Keller Center Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The Keller Center features a wide variety of CNC machines, supporting laser cutting, die cutting, wire bending, 3D carving, and routing.

PUL Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The library makerspace offers regular training on our smart cutting machines Cricut Maker 3 and Graphtec FC9000 cutting plotter. The library also has a small Roland SRM-20 desktop CNC mill available after project consultation and training.

StudioLab

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

StudioLab has an Epilog Mini 40 watt laser cutter/engraver, two Cricut Maker craft cutters, an AxiDraw SE/A1 pen plotter, and a Roland MDX-40A milling machine.


Computing Resources

Digital Learning Lab (DLL)

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The McGraw Digital Learning Lab features 15 Mac computers loaded with a broad selection of digital design, audio, and video production software.

StudioLab

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

StudioLab offers PCs optimized for performance graphics and a series of Intel NUC Lab computers featuring Adobe Creative Cloud software, CAD tools, a video game library, and game development enviornments. In addition, gaming laptops, keyboards and mice, and portable monitors are available for checkout.


Electronics/Robotics

Keller Center Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The Keller Center supports electronics work, offering a waveform generator, a digital/analog breadboard training unit, and a real-time oscilloscope.

PUL Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The Princeton University Library Makerspace features a soldering station with a fume snorkel, as well as Arduino and Raspberry Pi starter kits available for checkout.

Robotics Lab

Access: Restricted to current faculty researchers.

The Robotis Lab has an indoor drone/mobile robot arena that offers a netted area to fly drones and other arial robots as well as plenty of open space for testing ground robots. The lab also has a space equipped with 40 cameras to track rigid body motion in 3D space.

StudioLab

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staf.

StudioLab provides soldering stations, a library of electronic components, an oscilloscope, and a benchtop power supply. Additionally, StudioLab has Raspberry Pi 4 kits available for checkout. StudioLab also hosts the University’s Robotics Club.


Large Format Printing

PUL Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The PUL Makerspace has one large format printer available by reservtion and restricted to one (1) 36″x48″ poster per person per month.

Print and Mail Services

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

Princeton’s Print and Mail Services offers high quality large format printing, brochure printing, and design services at cost and quick turnaround. For mass printing and promotional posters, use department or club funds.


Sewing

Keller Center Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The Keller Center has a Brother PE770 embroidery machine.

Mend

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

Run out of the Department of Sustainability, Mend student leaders offer weekly pop-ups to help you with all your clothing repair needs.

PUL Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The PUL Makerspace has Brother XM2701 sewing machines and emergency sewing kits available for checkout, as well as an onsite sewing station with a sewing machine, Brother 1034D Serger, adjustable dress form, ironing boards, and other sewing accessories. PUL also has embroidery hoops, crochet hooks, and knitting needles.

StudioLab

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

StudioLab has Singer Fashion Mate 3333 sewing machines, a Singer Heavy Duty sewing machine, a Brother 1034D Serger, and Brother Inno-vs NQ1700E embroidery machines, as well as crochet materials, fabrics, and other sewing accessories.


Hand Tools and Repair

Cyclab

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

Cyclab is a student run DIY bike co-op, supported by and located in Rockefeller College. During the school year, Cyclab holds drop-in hours four nights a week. Mechanics help bike owners fix their own bikes by teaching maintenance and repair skills.

Keller Center Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The Keller Center features a collection of woodshop tools, including a lathe, a drill press, a collection of saws, belt sanders, planers, and grinders.

Mend

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

Run out of the Department of Sustainability, Mend student leaders offer weekly pop-ups to help you with all your clothing repair needs.

PUL Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The PUL Makerspace has an assortment of tools and toolkits available for checkout, including a digital caliper, a stud finder, a computer toolkit, an emergency sewing kit, a socket set, a hex wrench set, and a tape measure. The space also has a bike repair stand, a general tool cabinet with tools for onsite use, such as a hand drill, jewler’s saw, and vices.

StudioLab

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

StudioLab has a variety of of general tols, nuts and bolts in metric and imperial sizes, and a crafting cart stocked with pens, tapes, adhesives, etc.


VR/AR/XR

PUL Makerspace

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

The PUL Makerspace has a Meta Quest 2 heaset available for checkout, as well as a VR Exploration Room equipped with a Meta Quest 2 headset and HTC Vive Pro 2. The room is available for reservation.

StudioLab

Access: Open to current students, faculty, and staff.

StudioLab offers the HTC Vive Pro 2 for VR, as well as a Vicon Vantage motion capture system for onsite use.

Stokes Library

Access: Open to current students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Stokes Library has a collection of VR equipment available for checkout by classes or individuals, including 7 Oculus Quest 1 headsets and 6 Meta Quest 3 headsets.
